The Phantom KT1610 high-speed camera delivers exceptional image quality and flexibility for capturing fast-moving events with clarity. Built with advanced BSI (Back Side Illuminated) sensor technology and offers 15,640 frames-per-second at 1280 x 832 resolution, it provides accurate data capture across a variety of environments, including low-light conditions.

This camera is well-suited for high-speed studies, including ballistics and spray dynamics, thanks to its ultra-high frame rate capabilities. It offers binned mode, which combines pixels to increase frame rates at resolutions of 640 x 384 and below.

A programmable I/O system allows for precise synchronization and control, integrating seamlessly with data acquisition (DAQ) systems and other sensors.

The KT1610 supports an automated workflow using image-based auto-trigger (IBAT), multi-Cine partitions, and continuous recording through PCC software. On-camera controls, CF Express storage compatibility, and SDI/HDMI video outputs provide flexibility for standalone operation and real-time monitoring. At just 3.2 kg, the KT1610’s compact design reduces the need for bulky support equipment, making it a great choice for installations with limited space.

Applications

Droplet Analysis/PIV
Track particle movement in fluids to analyse velocity fields and flow patterns.

Digital Image Correlation (DIC):
Measure full-field deformation, strain, and displacement for material testing and structural analysis.

Life Sciences and Biomechanics:
Study biological movements and physiological processes to support medical and biomechanics research.

Material Testing:
Capture how materials respond to stress, fracture, and extreme forces for engineering and design improvements.

Ballistics research:
With high light sensitivity to eliminate motion blur and incredibly high frame rates, it makes it perfectly suited to ballistics e.g. gunshot analysis or explosives etc.

Automotive:

Analyse crash tests, component motion, and vehicle dynamics to support safety and performance evaluations.

Combustion:
Combustion applications often have unique difficulties that need to be overcome. Aside from being exceptionally fast events they often have lighting issues as they quickly fluctuate between being very dark and very bright. Phantom cameras have features that aid researchers in dealing with these issues.

Microfluidics:
Visualise fluid flow at the microscale, aiding research in biotechnology, chemistry, and physics.
