uEye EVS Cameras

Event-based vision cameras for capturing extremely fast motion with reduced data output.

The uEye EVS cameras by iDS are designed with an event-based vision sensor to capture changing pixels. This approach allows uEye EVS cameras to capture extremely fast movements, making them ideal for high-speed events.

The uEye EVS uses a Sony IMX636 sensor, which delivers a resolution of 1280 x 720 with asynchronous intelligent pixels. The camera is highly sensitive, capable of detecting light as low as 0.08 lux for low-light conditions and very short exposures.

Why Event-Based Imaging?

uEye EVS motion detection example

Its temporal resolution, the minimum measurable time difference between two consecutive pixel events, is less than 100µs, meaning it captures motion without blur, even at frame rates exceeding 10,000 FPS.

The camera captures and outputs only those pixels that change in a scene, and does so asynchronously so the data stream is not in any specific order. The order of pixels output is not related to the position of the pixel on the sensor, and instead is ordered based on the time the pixel changes.

This approach creates a very significant reduction in data output, 10x to 1000x less than traditional sensors, and ensures efficient data processing and minimal memory usage.

The uEye EVS camera supports integration with software tools from Sony and Prophesee for seamless operation. With its compact design, it is available in various models, including board-level and small housing configurations.

Key Benefits
