An
excellent tool for researchers, scientists and engineers who need to capture
high-resolution images at ultra-high speeds, the Phantom v1612 camera
provides the versatility and flexibility needed in a variety of applications.
Offering the same unique features available in the Phantom® UHS-12
Series family of 1 megapixel digital ultra high-speed cameras, the V1612
has over 30% more speed than the v1212.
Vision Research's proprietary widescreen CMOS sensor can acquire and
save up to 16 gigapixels-per-second of data which meansthat at its full
megapixel resolution of 1280 x 800, 16,000 frames-per-second can be achieved
while at reduced resolutions, the v1612 offers frame rates of 646,000
fps. Ordered with the FAST option, enables the V1612 which enables frame
rates up to 1,000,000 fps and so further expanding its versatility. The
colour and mono sensor has 28 micron pixels and an innovative design to
ensure superb light-sensitivity which is essential in ultra-high-speed
imaging. Standard 12-bit depth per pixel yields high dynamic range and
provides excellent image quality.

Added flexibility can be achieved by dividing the v1612's 72GB, 144GB
or 288GB of high-speed memory into up to 63 segments and cine save times
can be minimised by using the Phantom
CineMag IV, an option that saves any shot from high-speed RAM to a
1TB or 2TB CineMag in seconds. If memory is segmented, shorter cines can
be recorded into each segment back-to-back without missing any action.
The 10G Ethernet transfers data at up to 600 MB/second
on optimized systems, saving time and giving access to critical data much
faster.
The v1612 has the same Ease-of-Use features as all the other members
of the Phantom High-Speed Camera line with common signal connections are
conveniently located on its back panel. Included are connections for timecode,
dual power inputs, HD-SDI, a GPS input, frame synchronization, and trigger.
The two HD-SDI ports can act as identical 4:2:2 HD-SDI ports with one
port set up to provide an (optional) on-screen display for monitoring
the on-camera controls and camera operation. They can also be configured
as a single 4:4:4 Dual-Link HD-SDI port.
An internal mechanical shutter allows for automatic and remote black
references, ensuring high image-quality even when you can't manually cover
the lens prior to a shot.
The camera has a Nikon F-mount that also supports G-mount lenses. C-mount
and Canon EF mounts are also available
