New CMOS sensor design provides performance
competition for high resolution CCD cameras
Featuring a unique 8-transistor architecture and providing a level of
image quality far beyond traditional CMOS cameras, the SP-20000-USB offers
16 fps at full 20-megapixel resolution (5120 x 3840) via a large 41mm
diagonal CMOS imager with global shutter. The camera
is available in both monochrome and colour versions, both models using
their architecture to implement true correlated double sampling (CDS)
for outstanding image quality with the highest degree of pixel uniformity.
This pixel technology is used in a variety of ways to make the image quality
suitable for many applications that may not have previously used
a CMOS-based camera

at 16 frames-per-second without compromising image quality
|High image quality
|The combination of latest CMOS technology plus in-camera image preprocessing
provided a remarkably high image quality - well above that of typical
CMOS sensors and competitive with CCD cameras for many applications.
Incorporates correlated double sampling to remove reference voltage
variations - a technique not possible with less robust sensors and
resulting in pixel-level inaccuracies.
On-chip routines and in-camera pattern correction algorisms minimise
the appearance of fixed pattern noise usually found in CMOS imagers.

|The large pixel size of 6.4 µm facilitates the space needed
for the 8T technology, providing the extra photosensitive

|Global shutter advantage
|The global shutter in the camera achieves a 50 000:1 parasitic
light sensitivity rating – the highest among
CMOS imagers where only 1 out of every 50,000 photons “leaks”
into the output buffer. The less the leakage, the accurate the pixels.
|Combining the auto gain function with the auto shutter function,
enables the camera to adjust to changing light conditions to provide
optimal exposure while minimizing both image noise and motion blur.

The Automatic Level Control mode combines the auto gain function with
the auto shutter function to handle change light conditions more easily
while defining bosh the range and priority of shutter and gain variations

HDR mode captures both bright and dark details under high contrast
conditions and provides outstanding low-light performance.
