Teledyne DALSA Perciva 5D
2D imaging and on-board 3D depth processing from a single CMOS sensor
The Teledyne DALSA Perciva 5D combines conventional 2D imaging with on-board 3D depth processing for close-range vision applications. Using Angular Sensitive Pixel technology and advanced on-board processing, it produces natively synchronised, pixel-aligned 2D frames with 3D depth data across calibrated close-range working distances.
Both 2D and 3D information are generated from a single CMOS sensor, providing occlusion-free 3D vision at close range. Comprehensive 3D processing is built into the camera, with immediate depth maps or point cloud outputs available for use in the vision system.
Perciva 5D at a glance
2 MP
Colour or monochrome imaging with synchronised 3D depth data.
20 fps
Maximum frame rate for close-range 2D and 3D vision applications.
10 cm - 200 cm
Calibrated working distance for close-range depth measurement.
On-camera 3D
Depth maps or point cloud outputs generated directly inside the camera.
2D and 3D imaging from a single sensor
Perciva 5D captures conventional 2D images and corresponding depth information using the same CMOS sensor. The outputs are natively synchronised and pixel aligned, allowing conventional image data and 3D depth information to be used together without the alignment issues that can arise when separate imaging systems are combined.
- Pixel-aligned outputs: 2D images and 3D depth information correspond directly across the same scene.
- Occlusion-free close-range 3D: A single-sensor architecture removes the baseline offset associated with separate stereo or depth cameras.
- Depth maps and point clouds: Comprehensive 3D processing is performed on-camera for immediate use by the vision system.
Close-range field of view
Perciva 5D is designed for applications where depth information is required at close or very close working distances. Its calibrated 45° horizontal field of view captures both 2D image information and 3D depth data across the same scene.
- 10 cm to 200 cm working distance: Supports applications where the camera needs to operate close to the object or process.
- Robotics and picking: Depth information supports object localisation, obstacle detection and manipulation.
- Process monitoring: Close-range measurement can support manufacturing and inspection tasks where larger 3D systems are difficult to position.
2D and 3D output examples
2D and 3D object imaging
Capture conventional 2D imagery, corresponding 3D point information and depth maps from the same close-range scene.
Industrial depth imaging
Generate spatial information at short working distances for industrial process monitoring, robotics and logistics.
Depth in dynamic scenes
Pixel-aligned depth information helps distinguish objects positioned at different distances within the same field of view.
Ambient-light 3D imaging
Perciva 5D operates using ambient light indoors or outdoors, removing the need for an external NIR illumination source in supported applications.
- No external NIR source: Reduces the number of components required in the imaging system.
- Lower system complexity: Fewer lighting components can simplify mechanical integration and system cost.
- Indoor and outdoor operation: Designed to generate depth information using available ambient illumination.
On-camera processing and system integration
The Perciva 5D is factory calibrated and designed for straightforward integration into industrial and embedded vision systems.
- GenDC / GenTL: Supports established machine vision data transport and acquisition workflows.
- Spinnaker 4 and SpinView: Supports 2D and 3D visualisation, configuration and camera control.
- GigE Vision: GenICam-compliant Gigabit Ethernet interface for integration with machine vision software platforms.
- Industrial construction: IP65-rated housing and industrial M12 connectors support deployment in rugged environments.
- Compact operation: 230 g camera mass with less than 5 W maximum power consumption.
