Salamander and Feuersalamander Protective Enclosures
AutoVimation Salamander and Feuersalamander protective enclosures are designed for compact industrial cameras that need reliable protection in demanding environments. Salamander enclosures provide robust IP66/IP67 protection for machine vision cameras, while Feuersalamander stainless steel enclosures are suited to hygienic food and pharmaceutical applications.
Salamander protective enclosure
Providing IP67 protection for compact cameras with 47 x 29 mm to 40 x 40 mm cross sections, the Salamander series features a broadband anti-reflective coated window and an anodised aluminium enclosure built with a robust extrusion profile.
Flexible camera positioning
The camera is quickly and easily contained within the enclosure using a flexible mount, keeping the lens close to the front window. Turning the camera inside the housing allows simple correction of the image angle.
Passive cooling system
The enclosure passively cools the camera by acting as a large heat sink and dissipating heat to the outer housing, lowering the camera temperature by around 12°C compared with standard enclosures.
Quicklock mounting
Cameras can be installed using AutoVimation's patented Quicklock and heat guide mounting system, with Quicklock elements available for camera heights from 29 to 38 mm.
Waterproof cable entry
Conduit tubes and separable cable glands allow waterproof cable insertion with connectors up to 23 mm in diameter.
MMVI compatibility
Salamander enclosures are based on the standardised Mechanical Machine Vision Interface, allowing compatible image processing components to connect directly to the enclosure.
Flexible mounting options
A wide range of mounting brackets allows users to adapt camera installation to application requirements.

Mounting kits
Salamander enclosures attach to a machine frame with one of 11 mounting kits. Mounting kits consist of at least two parts: an adapter plate that can be mounted directly to T-slot profiles of a machine frame, and one or several mounting brackets to meet adjustment requirements.
Depending on the application, mounting adapters and brackets may need to be combined. Adept Turnkey engineers can advise on a suitable configuration for your requirements.
Rear wall options
Rear Wall A
Plastic PA quick-type connector for corrugated all-plastic tubing, also available as a 90 degree elbow. Resistant to oil and petrol, and mostly resistant to acids and solvents. Standard delivery includes 3 m corrugated flame-retardant, UV-resistant plastic PA tubing.
Rear Wall B
Standard option with M20 cable gland for 4.0-6.5 mm cable diameter and connectors up to 13.5 mm diameter, plus M25 cable gland for 4.0-6.5 mm cable diameter and connectors up to 16 mm diameter.
Rear Wall C
Rear wall with one large self-drilling M32 cable gland, fitting connectors up to 26 mm diameter.
Feuersalamander stainless steel protective enclosure
Feuersalamander stainless steel protective enclosures are corrosion-resistant, corner-free enclosures for compact cameras up to 40 x 40 mm. They are especially suited to food and pharmaceutical applications requiring hygienic enclosure design.
The compact IP66/IP67 food-grade V4A stainless steel enclosure is made without edges and corners and has a smooth electropolished surface to reduce areas where dirt and germs can accumulate.
Hygienic stainless steel design
Electropolished, corrosion-resistant stainless steel construction is designed for hygienic food and pharmaceutical environments.
