JAI GO-X with Sony Pregius S 4th Generation CMOS sensors

JAI has expanded on its GO-X Series by adding new models featuring the latest Sony Pregius S 4th Generation CMOS sensors. The launch includes 24 new models including 12 with CoaXPress interface and 12 with GigE Vision (1000BASE-T).

These cameras are available
Due to a global shortage of various electronic and semiconductor components customers have found it difficult to have their machine vision solution delivered in-time. With this launch, JAI have 12 new GO-X CoaXPress models and 12 new GigE models (PGE) in production and available now with relatively short lead-times.

State-of-the-art CMOS sensors
The 24 newest GO-X cameras feature Pregius S sensors, which are some of the most advanced global shutter sensors available. Smaller pixels translate to higher resolutions that can still fit into the C-mount optical circle, while backside illumination (BSI) captures more light so the smaller pixels perform much like the larger pixels in Gen.3 series with regards to sensitivity and image quality. Backside illumination also provides increased processing efficiency, which allows cameras to maintain their high throughput levels even as frame rates increase.

The new GO-X Cameras feature new advanced functionality making them some of the most feature-packed small cameras on the market.

Applications

All GO-X Series cameras - including the new models - feature compact size, low weight, and competitive pricing suitable for a wide range of machine vision applications in industries such as:

• Traffic and Transportation
• Pharmaceuticals
• Automation & Automotive
• Packaging & Logistics
• Medical Devices
• Food & Beverage
• Others

They are particularly suited to applications in rugged environments with high-temperature and high-vibration and where space and weight are a premium. In addition, GO-X Series cameras can be utilized in various types of embedded applications. The eBUS SDK for JAI offered free with GO-X Series GigE Vision and USB3 Vision cameras, is available in a Linux for ARM version and compatible with the NVIDIA Jetson line of embedded system processors and carrier boards.

Features

The new GO-X series cameras have all of the attractive features of the original GO-X Series models:
• Small size, light weight, and low power consumption
• Proven manufacturing process for high reliability in the field
• Cleanroom assembly and internal membranes to prevent dust migration
• All the usual features in JAI cameras like region-of interest (ROI), image flipping, image mirroring, blemish compensation and shading correction. Plus, more advanced features like two different sequencer modes and JAI's automatic level control function (ALC).

New Advanced Features

The new GO-X cameras with Sony Gen.4 sensor offer several advanced capabilities not found in other cameras including:

• Xscale - a flexible, sub-pixel scaling function to help match pixel sizes, optical formats, and resolutions when replacing older cameras. Binning allows the addition of whole-pixels, Xscale allows the addition of fractions of pixels and so offers much greater flexibility.

• Xpress - available in the new monochrome GigE Vision models, this function provides lossless compression to reduce data size and increase frame rates over standard GigE Vision bandwidths.

Gradation Compression - For scenes containing a few very bright areas, this function lets users capture a full 12-bit of shading variations but compress the output into 8-bit images to decrease file sizes. Users can define how much compression to apply and where on the 12-bit scale it should begin.

• Colour Space Conversion - The colour models offer a colour space conversion function when using the in-camera 5x5 RGB debayering option. This lets users select what colour gamut works best for their needs. Choices include RGB, Adobe RGB, HSI, CIE XYZ, and a colour matrix circuit that lets users program their own custom RGB format.

• Colour Enhancement - The colour models also include a function that can be used to increase the intensity of selected primary/complementary colours (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow) up to 2X their captured intensity.

*Note: GigE Vision models will have 5x5 debayering included as part of a free firmware update scheduled for December 2022. Colour space conversion and colour enhancement will be included in this update but will not include RGB to HSI colour conversion capability.
