The Miro C321J and Miro C321: Unrivalled for high-impact testing
The Phantom Miro C321J and C321 are a part of Vision Research's extensive range of on-board and off-board high impact high speed camera solutions. With frame rates of 1,480 fps at 1920 x 1080 and over 90,000 fps at the lowest resolution, the Miro C321 cameras provide ample frame rates for a broad range of crash testing and other applications that require a highly rugged camera.

The Miro C321 series are a rugged and small design, and have been tested (by a third-party) and proven to withstand shocks of up to 170G and vibrations of 24 Grms. The cameras come with an internal back-up battery and flash memory, to ensure critical test images are captured and saved in case cables are damaged. An additional feature of these cameras that makes them suitable for high-impact testing is their 10-µm pixel which ensures visibility in light starved conditions.

The Miro C321J and C321 focus on image protection, which is especially important in harsh environments. They use the same reliable battery as the C210 series and include 240GB of internal CineFlash.
How the Miro C321J and Miro C321 compares to the previous models: Miro C320J and Miro C320

The Miro C321J and C321 are based on the Miro C320J and Miro C320 respectively - they have the same form factor and work flow, and still perform at 1480 fps at 1920 x 1080. But the C321 series cameras have some noticeable improvements and customer benefits:
• Visibly better image quality, with lower noise and higher dynamic range, with the same sensitivity as the C320
• New "set default CSR" feature, perfect for customers who don't change their settings often
• Programmable IO for signaling flexibility.

Note: When the Phantom Miro C321J and Miro C321 are released, the Miro C320J and Miro C320 will be discontinued.

Benefits

Small, light & rugged

At 73 mm x 73 mm x 82.5 mm and weighing just 0.54 kg, the C321 and C321J are typically small enough to fit into the tightest places for the correct point-of-view. Strategically placed mounting holes securely position the cameras, even in difficult places. Rigorous third party testing at 170 G (IAW MIL-STD-810G) for shock, and 17 Grms (IAW MIL-STD-202G) for vibration, proves they are rugged enough to withstand the most challenging environments.

Image protection

Specifically designed to protect valuable images if a cable is severed during an experiment, each camera has local memory, including an internal, non-removable 240GB CineFlash for image storage. The cameras can be set to save all images immediately to the non-volatile CineFlash. An internal battery provides up to 30 minutes of back-up power should AC power be lost.

Modular and flexible for
multi-camera configurations

The Miro C321 C321J connect easily with the popular Miro J-Box 2.0 Junction Box. This offers multi-camera functionality, operating with the same single software with easy setup. The C321J connects to the J-Box with one simple, rugged cable that contains power, ethernet and signaling. For added flexibility, the C321 may be used as a stand-alone camera or can connect to the J-Box 2.0 with an adapter using the same single cable. Offering complete on-board and off-board flexibility, the Miro J-Box 2.0 also operates seamlessly with other Miro and VEO cameras.

Additional Features

• Maximized image quality for reliable data even in challenging environments.
• “Set Default CSR” feature for consistent images on power-up, eliminating the need for CSR.
• 2 body types for specific system needs - the C321J for multi-camera set-ups with the Miro Junction Box, and the C321, for stand-alone use, or connected to the JBox with an adapter. They blend
perfectly with Phantom off-board cameras for a full family solution.
• Proven design and independently tested rugged up to 170G. Tough, easy-to-use single cable system to Junction Box.
