JAI
adds strength to its position as a premier supplier of megapixel
cameras by offering a combination of high resolution, high fidelity
and high frame rates, in their
AM-800 CL and the AB-800 CL that utilize
the Kodak quad-tap architecture to deliver full 8-megapixel (3296
x 2472) resolution at 17 fps. The colour model (AB-800CL) can be
set to perform internal 3 x 3 colour interpolation, to generate
24-bit RGB output at 8.5 fps for full-resolution images.
Leveraging the Kodak KAI-08050 CCD sensor to achieve high-performance
image capture with a 40 MHz pixel clock, the cameras then use an
80 MHz pixel clock to convert the captured data to dual-tap output
(monochrome or raw Bayer) or single-tap output for RGB. This enables
all output to be delivered via a simple one-cable Camera Link base
digital interface where output can be 8-, 10- or 12-bit for monochrome
or raw Bayer modes and 8-bit-per-colour (24-bit) in RGB mode.

Industrial-grade construction
JAI ensure that its high-resolution cameras can withstand the rigors
of the industrial environment, including a variety of thermal management
features (ridged housings, heat sinks, internal temperature sensor)
as
well as extensive shock and vibration testing.
Broad set of features
Both cameras use quad-tap architecture for rapid image acquisition
then combine the four taps into two for monochrome of Bayer readout,
or a single output channel if in-camera interpolation is used. Built-in
channel-balancing capabilities are provided to ensure uniformity
across the image.
The camera features user-configurable Area Of Interest scanning
(partial scanning), multiple binning modes (AM-800CL only) and a
variety of acquisition modes, including continuous, single-frame
and multi-frame capture.
Advanced image pre-processing features include auto-gain, auto-shutter,
auto-white balancing, pixel blemish compensation, flat-field compensation
and a 256-point look-up table for gamma customisation.
Other industrial-grade features
JAI's new 8-megapixel models incorporate a list of industrial-grade
features to maximise performance in machine-vision environments
and include:
** precise sensor alignment
** advanced thermal
** built-in temperature sensor
** rugged construction with extensive shock and vibration testing
Target applications
that benefit from speed/resolution
combination
The cameras are suitable for applications where high image quality
and a wide field of view are required and need to utilise the 8-megapixel
resolution to study small details and so reduce the number of passes
required to inspect large areas. Typical applications include:
** Flat-panel LCD inspection
** Solar panel inspection
** PCB inspection
** Higher-speed assembly lines where small details need to be examined
** pharmaceutical inspection
** Inspection of connectors or other small, discrete items
** The auto-exposure capabilities make the cameras suitable for
a variety of traffic-related applications. |
