Vision Research upgrades 5 Phantom models with new enhancements

Vision Research announce that from 7th August, 2011 the Phantom v210, v310, v12.1, v640 and v710 models will be discontinued and replaced with upgrades - V211, v311, v611, v641 and v711, respectively. Orders for the about-to-be-discontinued models will be taken until that date after which time, Vision research will cease manufacturing and selling the older models.

Discontinued models will continue to be supported for a period of five years. Beyond that time, support will be offered on a "best effort" basis. Should you require a copy of Vision Research's full Statement of Policy regarding these discontinued cameras, please send an email request to Adept Turnkey at adept@adept.net.au

Enhanced updates: - advantages and features

Designed with flexibility and versatility at the forefront, the new line of Phantom cameras are:

  • smaller and lighter in weight than previous models.
  • enclosed in a white body that helps keep them cooler when shooting in direct sunlight and makes them "range friendly" for defence applications.
  • offered with the in-built mechanical shutter as a standard feature to ease or automate current session referencing.
  • now suppied standard with IBAT.
  • fitted with the Cinemag adapter option as standard. They can be ordered optionally without the cinemag adapter.
  • optionally available with on-camera and connectivity controls. This allows user to operate the camera without a computer connected.

All upgraded cameras include Vision Research’s custom designed 1280 x 800 CMOS sensor, which, due to the wider aspect ratio, allows users to keep objects in the frame longer and see more of the event they are recording. All cameras support both 8- and 12-bit pixel depth and offer 8GB, 16GB or 32GB internal high-speed memory options.

New models will begin shipping in July and any existing orders can be converted to the new cameras if desired.

Vision Research's Phantom v641 digital high-speed camera Keeping the Emmy-award-winning technology while adding more features
Providing a 4-megapixel sensor and greater than 6 gigapixels/second throughput, the Phantom v641 high-speed camera now includes a number of new convenience features requested by users. There are dual power inputs for battery backup or hot-swapping batteries when under battery power. The viewfinder port has been moved forward on the camera to make cabling cleaner and less intrusive. Two auxiliary power ports can provide 12VDC (1.5A) power for accessories -- and, each also has a trigger signal input available. Versatile Dual HD-SDI ports give maximum flexibility for video work flows and broadcast applications. Turning on the Versatile Dual output feature means that one port is always live while the second port can be simultaneously used for playback - a key feature required for broadcast applications and one of the technologies that helped win the Emmy award for technology and engineering in the ultra-slow broadcast application.
