CONTROL
High-Speed photography has been plagued by the problems
of amount and quality of light. Luminys has solved both with its specially-designed
ESL lamp combined with state-of-the-art reflector optics.
Luminys announces SUNSOURCE
- a lighting solution for testing facilities that provides up to
150,000 watts per fixture, offering the best
light quality in the industry, with superior coverage,
control, power utilization and
cost efficiency.
Whether lighting
the next blockbuster feature film or capturing critical high-speed
images in a laboratory setting, Luminys consistently generates brilliant
results.
What is SUNSOURCE? The Sunsource fixtures provide up to 150,000
watts per fixture of the highest quality, flicker-free
light available and, when combined with the proprietary
reflector system, provides the best-in-class test-facility lighting.
Two major challenges in capturing
high-speed videos
High-speed photography has always been challenged by two major problems:
available light and the type and quality of light that is used.
Sunsource offer their product as a solution to both challenges.
Why is Sunsource a compelling solution? A mere seven
Sunsource units provide one megawatt of usable light. Compare that
with the up-to 125 fixtures needed to supply the same light source
using other products. Not only does the reduced number of units
mean lower cost of acquisition but it also means less maintenance
and shorter set-up times. The Sunsource lighting system's ability
to deliver a one-megawatt light output means:
More frames-per-second . . . . .
Shutter speed can be increased
to provide more frames-per-second
Improved depth-of-field. . . . . .
F-stop can be increased to improve depth-of-field
(so that all the details in an image
can be seen, producing more data for analysis)
Adding filters . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Filters can now be added to
the lenses of the camera (for example, polarisers, to reduce
glare).
Soft shadowless light. . . . . . . .
Low power consumption . . . . .
Sunsource provides diffuse lighting
evenly over the region of interest which helps rid harsh
shadows and hot spots. The diffused light coming from
the reflector (Sunsource's Omnireflector - see below) wraps
around the object and fills in the existing shadows, something
that is not possible to do with direct light.
What is the Sunsource Omnireflector and how does it work?
Sunsource's Omnireflector is an optically correct reflector
designed to spread the light evenly over the region of interest.
Special materials and the pivoting design of the reflector enables
the capturing of more or less light as needed.
150,000 watts consumes only 20 amps of power
An additional benefit is Sunsource's user-friendly
interface. Using a 12" touch screen, a single
operator can directly position the reflector and control lighting
from anywhere on the floor.
Simple to operate, the software is sufficiently flexible and
versatile to be customised to suit clients' specific needs.
