More Powerful and Versatile Smart Cameras

DALSA Vision Appliances Upgrade

DALSA iPD has announced some exciting changes to their highly popular Vision Appliance (VA) series. These changes will make VAs more powerful and versatile. There is also a new Genie camera in production.

IPD Vision Appliances are available in a range of cost-effective models to satisfy a broad variety of
user requirements. These include single 640 x 480 standard camera configurations to high performance
multi-camera models with 1600 x 1200 color resolution. In addition, IPD Vision
Appliances support DALSA line scan technology to address challenging large format or cylindrical
unwrapping applications.

There will changes in the VA15 to increase its speed by 42%. The VA15 is the entry level vision solution suitable for a range of applications. The change is scheduled to take effect immediately.

The high performance VAs – VA4x, VA5x and VA6x are also going to be upgraded. For these products DALSA have designed a new enclosure that will replace the existing silver coloured box. The new ‘DALSA blue’ will be thermally more efficient and feature a new improved design. The new packaging supports rigid internal assembly, improved air flow and quieter operation. In addition, a special protected partition of the hard drive will support an ‘image store’ function that can be activated at boot time. Customers will be albe to backup their production image to this partition for safe keeping. The new blue units will have the same physical size as the current units and will start shipping early next year. They will offer DIN rail mounting (note: different hole pattern for the current design) that is supported along both axis of the unit for optimal chassis placement.

On the camera front, DALSA’s 1600 x 1200 resolution GigE Genie camera is now in production. Like all other models, this camera is available in both monochrome (A-CAM-GM1600-1) and colour (A-CAM_GC1600-1) versions.
