Prosilica GC Power Voltage Specification Update
Update supports extended input power voltage range 5
- 25 VDC
New AVT Prosilica GC cameras shipped from April, 2011, will
support an extended input power voltage range of 5 - 25 VDC.
Existing customers are not affected by this capability and
can continue to use the same power source (5 - 16 VDC). New customers
that prefer a higher input voltage such as 24 VDC can now use this to
power the camera.
How to determine if your camera
offers the extended input power voltage range
The serial number is used to identify those cameras that
can be powered using 5-16 VDC and those cameras that support 5-25 VDC.
The eighth character of the camera serial number
(see below) is the identifier that indicates the camera's support
of the extended input power voltage range. Any number other than “0”
will indicate this is the case.
In Fig 1 below the camera serial number is identified as 02-2171A-0XXXX.
Since the eighth character is “0” this camera is limited to
5-16 VDC. In Fig 2 below, the serial number is identified as
02-2171A-1XXXX where the 8th digit is not a "0" and so this
camera supports the updated 5-25 VDC.

IMPORTANT NOTE
Supplying 17 VDC or more to the power input of cameras that do not support
the extended input power voltage range will damage the camera.
This event is not covered under warranty.
