FX Fusion - Hyperspectral Image Fusion for VNIR and NIR Hyperspectral Cameras

FX Fusion is a hyperspectral data fusion system that combines the data from a VNIR and NIR hyperspectral camera into one geometrically aligned 400–1700 nm dataset. It performs precise hyperspectral fusion so VNIR and NIR data can be analysed together with consistent pixel registration and reflectance-ready output.

Hyperspectral Image Fusion

What is FX Fusion?

hyperspectral data fusion

FX Fusion is a software-driven system developed by Adept Turnkey that performs hyperspectral fusion between a VNIR and NIR camera. It aligns both datasets at the pixel level and outputs a unified hyperspectral cube for accurate scientific, industrial, and environmental analysis.

What problem does hyperspectral image fusion solve?

Traditionally VNIR and NIR hyperspectral data is captured with two separate cameras which produce two separate datasets that must be calibrated, aligned, and merged manually. Different hyperspectral cameras have different resolutions, different lens distortions, different sensitivities and different dynamic ranges, so the problem with accurately merging the data spatially and spectrally is significant.

FX Fusion overcomes these issues by providing:

  • Automatic geometric alignment
  • One combined 400–1700 nm dataset spatially and spectrally matched
  • Consistent pixel-to-pixel correlation
  • Reflectance-corrected output
  • A repeatable workflow for large-scale projects

This ensures that users can interpret both spectral ranges as one continuous dataset.

How FX Fusion Works

FX Fusion performs three core tasks:

1. Hyperspectral Data Fusion (400–1700 nm)

Combines VNIR and NIR datasets into one continuous spectral cube using precise geometric registration.

2. Pixel-Aligned Imaging

Maintains accurate pixel registration across the full sensor focus range so VNIR and NIR data correlate reliably.

3. Reflectance-Ready Output

Provides calibrated reflectance data suitable for research, machine learning, or industrial inspection workflows.
