FX Fusion Pro Version 2 simplifies hyperspectral imaging workflows
Faster processing, integrated camera control and easier workflow automation
Capturing and fusing hyperspectral data from two cameras with different bands into a single spatially correlated hyperspectral data-cube has become significantly easier with the release of FX Fusion Pro Version 2. Developed by Adept Turnkey, this latest system introduces a new interface that brings image acquisition, camera control and data fusion into a single application, streamlining the entire workflow.
Previous versions relied on multiple software packages to control the VNIR and NIR cameras before processing the data. While the system delivered accurate results, customers found the workflow unnecessarily complex and time-consuming.
Based on customer feedback, Adept Turnkey developed a dedicated interface that simplifies the process from image capture through to data fusion. The new software allows both cameras to be controlled from a single application while reducing fusion processing times from around 40 seconds to just six seconds, bringing results much closer to real time.
Version 2 also introduces support for macro image fusion, enabling data captured with macro lenses to be accurately combined for high-resolution close-up imaging.
In addition, the software now supports remote command control, allowing external systems to trigger acquisitions and processing without interacting directly with the graphical interface. This makes integration into automated workflows significantly easier.
FX Fusion V2 can combine VNIR hyperspectral data from 400–1000 nm with NIR data from 900–1700 nm, or VNIR hyperspectral data from 400–1000 nm with SWIR data from 1000–2500 nm, into a single, pixel-aligned dataset. This provides researchers and industry with continuous spectral coverage from 400 – 1700 nm or 400 – 2500nm for applications including agriculture, food inspection, environmental monitoring and material analysis. Longer wavelength cameras (MWIR and LWIR) can also be integrated into FX Fusion V2 with customer requests.
Hyperspectral data fusion made simple
Traditionally, combining data from two hyperspectral cameras has been a complex process. Differences in spatial resolution, optics and calibration can make it difficult to accurately align datasets, often resulting in lengthy processing workflows and reduced confidence in analysis.
FX Fusion overcomes these challenges through advanced software that precisely aligns both datasets spatially and spectrally into a single, reflectance-ready data-cube.
The system delivers sub-pixel accuracy, completes fusion in under 10 seconds per scan, and provides integrated control of both cameras through a single application for calibration, acquisition and batch processing.
Built for research and industrial applications
FX Fusion has been developed to support a wide range of hyperspectral imaging applications where continuous spectral coverage and accurate pixel alignment are essential.
Applications include:
- Vegetation and crop phenotyping
- NDVI and vegetation index analysis
- Soil and mineral characterisation
- Moisture measurement
- Food and feed inspection
- Waste and recycling sorting
- Environmental monitoring
- Display and lighting inspection
By combining broad spectral coverage with a compact system design, FX Fusion offers an accessible alternative to larger, more complex hyperspectral platforms.
