Sapera Processing 9.53 and Astrocyte 1.53

PCC 4.1

The latest releases of Sapera Processing and Astrocyte introduce several technical changes to the Teledyne DALSA software ecosystem. These updates primarily focus on hardware compatibility, architecture requirements, and licensing structures.

Sapera Processing acts as a comprehensive 64-bit programming library designed to simplify vision application development. It offers a robust set of optimised tools for image processing and analysis, leveraging high-performance C++ classes to meet challenging operational requirements. By utilising MMX, SSE, and SSE2 instruction sets, it delivers rapid execution for 2D and 3D applications across area-scan, line-scan, monochrome, and colour cameras.

Astrocyte is a code-free AI training tool that allows for the quick deployment of deep learning models. It empowers users to train neural networks using their own images for tasks like object detection, classification, and segmentation without requiring coding expertise. Because training is deployed entirely on the user's local PC, it ensures full data privacy and eliminates the need to share sensitive images on the cloud.

Sapera Processing 9.53: Key Changes

The 9.53 update introduces a shift in the underlying architecture and how the software is licensed for industrial use.

64-Bit: Support for 32-bit libraries has been discontinued. Version 9.53 operates exclusively as a 64-bit library to align with modern operating system standards.

GPU support: The AI inference module has been updated to support NVIDIA RTX 5000 series GPUs and subsequent families.

Perpetual Licensing: The licensing model has changed from an annual renewal system to a perpetual model for Sapera Essential and Sapera AI SDKs.

Simplified AI Runtime: The AI runtime license has been consolidated into a single part number that covers all available AI tools, replacing the previous multi-tiered system.

Astrocyte 1.53: Key Changes

The 1.53 update focuses on the user interface and the accessibility of the training environment.

Expanded Hardware Compatibility: Similar to Sapera Processing, Astrocyte now supports NVIDIA RTX 5000 series GPUs for both the training and inference engines.

SDK Integration: Astrocyte is now included within the Sapera Essential SDK license. This allows for AI model prototyping without the requirement of a separate initial purchase.

Multi-Language Interface: The graphical user interface has been updated to include English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Korean language options.

UI Modifications: The update includes revised graphic icons and layout adjustments to the training environment.
