Gocator 2D Smart Camera: A complete solution for industrial 2D measurement and inspection
Real-time 2D inspection powered by on-device AI
The Gocator 2D Smart Camera series is an autonomous solution for industrial measurement and inspection. With high-resolution imaging, lighting control, and onboard processing, the system functions separately to external PCs or cloud-based infrastructure. This "smart camera" architecture is designed to minimise latency and data egress in demanding factory automation environments.
Core processing and AI integration
The series is powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX processor, which distributes tasks across CPU and GPU cores. This hardware enables Deep Edge AI, allowing for deep learning-powered intelligence to be executed directly on-device.
On-device training: Models are trained using real production data locally.
Inference: AI anomaly detection, image classification, and OCR are performed on-site to ensure fast iteration and low latency.
Programmability: While the system offers no-code speed, workflows can be extended via Python and OpenCV pipelines for full programmatic control.
Imaging performance and optics
The Gocator 2D Smart Camera is equipped with global shutter CMOS sensors, the cameras capture parts in motion at speeds up to 84 FPS. This prevents motion blur during short-exposure inspections, supporting calibrated measurements in real-world units and reliable code reading. The hardware supports high-fidelity imaging in two primary tiers:
5 MP (1050 Series): High-speed 84 FPS capture with a 1/1.8" sensor.
12 MP (1120 Series): High-resolution 41 FPS capture with a 1/1.1" sensor.
Optics: Both series utilise a C-mount lens interface and are housed in IP67-rated enclosures for protection against industrial contaminants.
System software and scalability
Management of the inspection environment is handled through GoPxL™, a scalable web-based vision software. GoPxL provides a unified environment for configuring inspection logic, managing model training, and validating system behaviour. The integrated toolset includes:
Rules-based tools: Alignment, edge detection, and blob analysis.
Identification tools: Barcode reading and OCR.
Hardware control: Native trigger and overdrive control for RMX140 ring lights and LSR300 bar lights.
Hardware connectivity and memory
The Gocator 2D platform includes 88 GB of non-volatile memory and 15 GB of application memory. Connectivity is facilitated through Gigabit Ethernet and industrial M12 connectors for power and I/O.
Key features
Deep Edge AI: Powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX, the system performs on-device training and inference. This ensures low-latency processing and eliminates the need for cloud dependencies or data egress.
High-speed imaging: Global shutter sensors capture images at up to 84 FPS, allowing for precise defect detection and OCR reading on parts in motion without motion blur.
Scalable GoPxL™ software: A web-based interface that allows engineers to configure, validate, and manage inspection logic, model training, and system behaviour in a single environment.
Python customisation: Users can extend standard no-code workflows with Python scripts and OpenCV pipelines, providing the flexibility to integrate third-party models as requirements evolve.
Industrial durability: The cameras feature a rugged IP67-rated housing and integrated lighting control, making them suitable for harsh factory environments.
