HALCON 25.11: Deep Learning improvements

HALCON 25.11 will be released on 12 November 2025. The software includes new features, optimisations, and improvements based on customer feedback. The focus of this release is on speed and performance in deep learning applications.

The release introduces optimised models for classification and code reading. Inference for these tasks is faster than in previous versions.

Continual Learning – Classification
HALCON 25.11 includes Continual Learning - Classification. This allows classification models to be updated or refined with few images per class. New classes can be added without retraining the entire model. The approach avoids catastrophic forgetting and runs on edge devices.

Score Visualization for Shape Matching
Score Visualisation for Shape Matching has been updated. Detected and undetected edges are displayed in different colours. The feature shows how different model contours contribute to the overall score. It can be used in applications such as analysing objects in a stack.

Optimised Deep OCR models for faster, resource-efficient OCR
New Deep OCR models are included. They provide faster, resource-efficient text recognition without loss of accuracy. They can run in real time on low-power hardware.

MobileNetV4 classification models
HALCON 25.11 adds support for MobileNetV4 classification models. These models allow classification and object detection on resource-constrained systems. All models are pretrained on industrial data.

Various code reading and print quality inspection improvements
Code reading and print quality inspection have been improved. QR code detection is more robust on curved or deformed surfaces. Bar code reading tolerates irregular bar widths. The software supports the PQI standards ISO/IEC 15415:2024 and ISO/IEC 29158:2025.

Built-in SBOMs for easier compliance
HALCON 25.11 provides built-in Software Bills of Materials (SBOMs) as SPDX JSON files. This feature facilitates compliance checks and transparency of software components.

HALCON 25.11 is intended for industrial applications requiring fast inference, model adaptability, and compliance with current standards.

HALCON 25.11 integrates advances in deep learning, model adaptability, and industrial compliance to provide a faster and more flexible vision platform. Its optimised models, continual learning capabilities, and enhanced inspection tools work together to improve efficiency across classification, OCR, and code reading tasks. Support for resource-constrained environments and real-time processing ensures broader applicability in industrial settings. Overall, the release aligns performance, adaptability, and standards compliance in a single cohesive update.
