Phantom T2110: High-Speed camera built for scientific applications

The Phantom T2110 by Vision Research is a high-performance imaging solution designed to meet the demands of scientific research and industrial applications. With an advanced back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor, high sensitivity, exceptional frame rates, and a range of configurable options, the T2110 offers unparalleled versatility.

The Phantom T2110 is equipped with a 1-megapixel back-side illuminated (BSI) sensor, built to deliver outstanding image clarity in challenging environments. The custom BSI sensor is manufactured by Vision Research specifically for the Phantom series. The BSI design shifts the sensing side of the sensor to the back in order to eliminate the occlusions caused by wire connections and metal pads on the front side, increasing the photon collecting area (fill-factor) and subsequently making it considerably more sensitive.

The T2110 sensor features a resolution of 1280 x 800, a quantum efficiency (QE) of 84.3% (mono), and a dynamic range (DNR) of 52dB, the T2110 ensures high-fidelity high-speed image capture with minimal distortion or interference.

The T2110 captures at over 21,000 frames per second (fps) at full resolution. At reduced resolutions, the camera achieves an exceptional maximum frame rate of 483,330 fps at 640 x 64 pixels, and so excels in applications requiring precise temporal analysis, enabling researchers and engineers to analyse rapid events with unprecedented detail.

The T2110 offers several customisable options. These include a CineMag interface for expanded data storage, and an ultra-fast exposure option that enables exposure times as low as 190 nanoseconds (ns). Additionally, users may select up to 256GB of RAM to accommodate extended recording durations, ensuring comprehensive data acquisition.

The Phantom T2110 incorporates intelligent features such as image-based auto-trigger (IBAT), multi-Cine partitions, and continuous recording amongst others. These functionalities enable automated data capture while minimizing manual intervention and providing absolute reliability of capture in valuable destructive testing applications. Additionally, a programmable I/O allows easy synchronization with data acquisition (DAQ) systems and other measurement tools.

Applications
Motion analysis:
The T2110 captures high-speed motion with exceptional clarity, making it ideal for studying fast-moving objects such as detecting bullet spin in ballistics applications.

Combustion studies:
The T2110 is ideal for capturing detailed phenomena in combustion processes like flame behaviour, fuel mixing and ignition, explosives. Shockwave analysis and more.

Scientific research:
High frame rate and resolution make it suitable for a variety of experimental setups, such as particle tracking, fluid dynamics, and other high-speed phenomena. The T2110 is ideal for most short time events or high speed motion and its synchronization options also allow it to integrate seamlessly with other systems for precise measurement and data capture.
