 Webcams are designed for the consumer market but are sometimes used in commercial applications like kiosk systems (bank ATMs, Immigration border control) robotics and more. The main reason webcams are used in these applications is because they focus and adjust brightness for ambient changes automatically. Webcams just plug-in and work, without the need for complicated software and lens control. However, Industrial or commercial users of webcams designed for the consumer market will understand that these low-price devices have significant disadvantages in terms of quality, durability and long-term availability as compared to classic industrial cameras.
The iDS uEye XC addresses the market need for an industrial camera with the same ease of use as a webcam. The XC allows users to connect the camera, focus and achieve a perfectly sharp image or video automatically.
Setting up and operating the uEye XC is easy. The camera only requires a USB cable connection. Its 13 MP Onsemi sensor (AR1335) delivers high-resolution, for detailed images and videos. With the quickly exchangeable macro lens, you can easily shorten the minimum object distance of the camera making it suitable for close-up applications, for example in medical technology.
Depending on preference, customers can choose between variants with USB3 Vision (programmable) and UVC protocol (plug&play).
