Choose the location and width of wavebands
|
JAI’s Fusion Flex-Eye Series 2-CMOS and 3-CMOS prism based multispectral cameras empower vision engineers with the ability to choose the location and width of wavebands to suit their application. This flexible configuration process has been designed to facilitate instances where the default wavebands of JAI’s standard Fusion models do not quite fit the specific requirements of the application.
The Flex-Eye camera series can be equipped with IMX273 sensors, providing 1.6 megapixels per waveband, or IMX252 sensors offering 3.2 megapixels per waveband.
JAI’s innovative Flex-Eye approach allows end users to access powerful inspection techniques that use visible and near infrared waveband ranges concurrently.
Depending on the user's requirements, the two or three user-specified wavebands can all be located within the visible spectrum (405-680 nm) or can be placed at multiple locations across the visible and near infrared spectrum (405-1000 nm). |

Example: Customized 3-sensor camera where one visible (Band 1) and two NIR (Band 2 and Band 3) wavebands have been specified. Wavebands can be as narrow as 25 nm and centred at increments of 5 nm. |

Applications |
Agriculture and vegetation analysis and weed removal. |
Systems designed for autonomous weed removal or the analysis of crop health via NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) or NDRE (Normalized Difference Red Edge) formulae must feed a combination of visible and NIR wavebands to their algorithms to identify weeds from seedlings, or to mark healthy crops from those needing additional water or fertilizer.
|
Food and vegetable sorting/inspection. |
Highly functional in inspecting moisture content, bruising and foreign objects effectively increasing yield and productivity all while reducing waste.
|
Fluorescence-guided surgery, pathology, or other life sciences applications. |
To guide operation, surgical systems are increasingly using fluorescence compounds in blood vessels or surrounding tissues to highlight areas which will then be overlaid on the surgeon's visible colour image.
|
Pharmaceuticals |
Meet strict regulations and critical safety demands within the pharmaceutical industry via reliable quality assurance routines during production of pills and liquid medicines.

JAI Flex-Eye Online configurator |
To allow users to tailor a Fusion Flex-Eye camera to meet their needs, JAI has developed an online Flex-Eye configurator that makes it simple to define and visualise the custom wavebands selected. With just a few clicks users can specify the number of sensors, the resolution, and whether Bayer or monochrome sensors are to be used in the visible spectrum. An intuitive GUI lets users place, stretch, or shrink their wavebands on a simple spectral chart with built-in validation rules helping to guide the user to a working configuration.
Key Features |
• Multispectral 2-CMOS or 3-CMOS prism cameras that allow for customisation of wavebands for a specific application. |

• Easy to use on-line configurator for smooth project start-up. |
• Option to use Bayer sensor in visible spectrum to provide additional spectral data |
• Low-noise Sony Pregius IMX273 (1.6 megapixels) or IMX252 (3.2 megapixels) per waveband |
• 10GBASE-T GigE Interface (GigE Vision and GenICam compliant) auto-negotiates to lower speeds as needed. |
• Precision Time Protocol support |
• Single- and multi-Region Of Interest modes. |
• Separate or unified control of key camera parameters for each channel. |
