Ruby 3D Depth Camera
|
Standard
Stereo vision sensors typically have limitations when targeting
textureless surfaces. Standard structured light 3D sensors overcome
the problem of textureless surface but have limitations when targeting
fast moving or transparent objects.
The challenge?
Mitigating against the limitations
with the stereo vision and structured light 3D models.

The solution? Combine
the best of both worlds.
The
Nerian Ruby 3D depth camera incorporates the best features from
structured light and stereo vision sensors with the aim of removing
the limitations of each of the respective technology models. The
clever design of the Nerian Ruby has resulted in the creation of
a highly flexible and low-cost 3D vision solution for demanding
applications.
The
camera has three
image sensors: two monochrome sensors for depth perception and an
additional colour sensor. The camera also includes the integration
of an infrared pattern projector which improves depth perception
but is invisible to the colour sensor. The Nerian Ruby allows users
to access fast 3D measurement results and clear colour information
simultaneously.
The ability of the Nerian Ruby to work indoors and outdoors and
to image short and long distances makes it very flexible and a very
handy tool for your next 3D development.

Applications
|
Its
innovative design makes the Nerian Ruby a robust solution
in both static and moving environments. It is particularly
proficient in critical real-time applications such as:
|
Mobile
Robotics
|
|
Reliable 3D path detection as well as depth data makes Ruby
3D great for autonomous control of mobile robots
|
Indoor
Applications
|
|
With
the integrated laser pattern sensor textureless surfaces like
bare walls are easily detected making Ruby 3D a robust solution
to indoor machine vision applications
|
Outdoor
Applications
|
|
Outdooor
setting applications are enabled with Ruby 3D as the stereo
vision model is highly effective in bright daylight.
