JAI Go-X series: compact area scan cameras with industrial grade reliability

JAI has expanded its Go-X Series of compact industrial cameras by adding three new camera models. The cameras feature CMOS Rolling Shutter technology and are developed using Sony's STARVIS sensor platform. All models are available in colour and monochrome.

New models:
• GOX-6409-PGE model: 6.3-megapixel. 18 frames/s in full resolution. (IMX178).
• GOX-12409-PGE model: 12.2-megapixel. 9 frames/s in full resolution. (IMX226).
• GOX-20409-PGE model: 20-megapixel. 5 frames/s in full resolution. (IMX183).

The Sony Starvis sensors have been designed with back-side illuminated sensor technology which provides significant advantages when it comes to improving low light performance and dynamic range. The new cameras are rolling shutter but include a global reset function which allows users to combine the high sensitivity of rolling shutter with the motion freeze of global shutter. By synchronising the global reset timing with flash illumination moving objects can be frozen without motion blur and without rolling shutter skew artefacts.

The compact size of a Go-X series makes them suitable for vision systems where space is a premium. Their high shock and vibration ratings (80G and 10G) makes them well-suited to vision systems for monitoring critical industrial applications. The body of the Go-X series is designed to dissipate heat and for the cameras to operate in relatively high ambient temperatures, adapting them well to 24-7 operation with very high reliability.
