Leading manufacturer of Phantom High-Speed cameras, Vision Research,
has introduced the Phantom Miro C320J and C320 to their extensive
range of on-board and off-board high-speed cameras for automotive
crash test systems.
With frame rates of 1,480 fps at 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution
and over 90,000 fps at lower resolutions, these new Miro cameras
provide ample speed for a broad range of automotive safety applications
and scenarios.
The Senior Product Manager for Vision Research,
Doreen Clark, says the Phantom Miro C320J and C320 are designed
to offer an extremely reliable solution for crash testing applications
where you only get one chance to capture valuable data as vehicles
are being destroyed as part of the testing.
“With the introduction of the Miro C320J
and C320, crash test centers can now rely on Phantom High-Speed
cameras for a complete on-board and off-board solutions,”
she said.

“Customers can use exactly the same software and protocols
with the Miro C320J or C320 as they do with other Phantom cameras
like the media-quality Phantom VEO4K. This greatly simplifies
processing and provides great image quality. We’re excited
about the efficiency and quality this comprehensive approach brings.”
The Miro C320J and C320 are rugged, small models,
that are tested (by a third-party Govt standard test house) and
proven to withstand shocks of up to 170G and vibrations of 24 Grms.
Additionally, these cameras offer a 10-µm pixel sensor for
high sensitivity and short shutter times, and most importantly an
internal back-up battery plus flash memory in order to ensure critical
test images are not lost in the case of a power failure or ther
extreme event.
The Miro C320J and C320 focus on image protection,
especially in harsh and light starved environments. They use the
same reliable battery as the C210 series and include 128GB internal
CineFlash.
CineFlash
is a removable, non-volatile storage device that slides into the
camera body and provides a way to quickly save shots from the camera's
memory without the need for time-consuming and costly downloads.
The CineFlash module is later removed from the camera and inserted
into the docking station which is connected to a computer making
the stored cines immediately available on the computer. The cines
can also be transferred from the camera to the computer and the
images edited using the bundled Phantom Camera Control software.
13 shots (image sequences) can be saved into the
128GB Flash before downloading is required which is ideal for situations
with repeat set ups or with repeat experiments.

Specifically designed to protect valuable images if a cable is severed
during an experiment. Each camera has local memory, including an
internal, non-removable 128G CineFlash for image storage. The cameras
can be set to save all images immediately to the non-volatile CineFlash.
An internal battery provides up to 30 minutes of back-up power should
AC power be lost.

At 73 mm x 73 mm x 82.5 mm and weighing just 0.54 kg, the C320 and
C320J are cubes small enough to fit into the tightest places.

The Miro C320 C320J connects easily with the popular Miro J-Box
2.0 Junction Box for simple multi-camera functionality, operating
with the same single software. The C320J connects to the J-Box with
one simple, rugged cable that contains power, ethernet and signaling.
For added flexibility, the C320 may be used as a stand-alone camera
or can connect to the J-Box 2.0 with an adapter to the same single
cable. Offering complete on-board and off-board flexibility, the
Miro J-Box 2.0 also operates seamlessly with other Miro and VEO
cameras.

Rigorous, third-party testing at 170 G (IAW MIL-STD-810G) for shock,
and 17 Grms (IAW MIL-STD-202G) for vibration, makes these cameras
extremely rugged and so withstand the most challenging
environments.
