Different
materials characteristics makes inspecting for texture a difficult
task considering the uniqueness and variability of each type of
textured surface and building a robust application that can adjust
for features like scale or brightness is a tricky and time-consuming
process.
Halcon 13 has relieved the burden with its new tool for
easy-to-use texture inspection and, while HALCON has
provided the necessary functions for texture inspection for many
years, the ease-of-use will be greatly improved with this
new version.
Configured by passing some training images of "correct"
texture by using a Gaussian Mixture Model
(GMM) classification on multiple levels of an image pyramid. The
trained texture inspection model can then be used to detect potential
texture defects.
