Machine Vision Technology News
Hello [firstname, fallback=customer]

Welcome to the November, 2013 edition of Vision Technology News presented by Adept Turnkey - Smarter Imaging For Better Lives.

Festive greetings

As Christmas approaches, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you and all of our customers for your valued business and support over the past 12 months. While it has been a reasonably challenging year for the Australian economy and Australian businesses, we have seen some sectors in the machine vision and imaging market grow quite well. Manufacturing and factory automation are still very quiet however, and unless we see the Aud$ exchange rate continue to drop this is unlikely to change.

The Aud$ has dropped by about 14% during 2013 which has helped, but has also caused our prices to increase a little. This is an unfortunate by-product of this currncy drop, but with the cost of vision components typically being a smaller part of the total vision system build cost, we should, as a sector welcome it as it makes us more competitive in the world market.

Regarding our technology, 2013 has continued to deliver significant changes and advances. We have seen rapid increase in the resolution and speed of sensors and CMOS gaining a stronger foothold with image quality improvements. USB3 has become commonly available as a camera interface although there are still problems with some cables and USB3 chipsets and should be considered with care.

Coaxpress is now also available but we are yet to see HS-Link and look forward to it in 2014. 3D imaging has continued to expand and Smart Cameras are beginning to proliferate. We have also seen standard industrial cameras get smaller and cheaper and a rapid expansion in sensor models.

But now we turn our thoughts and focus to family and friends and anticipate an enjoyable rest over the Christmas break.

We look forward to working with you next year and all of us at Adept Turnkey offer our best wishes to you and your family for the festive season. We trust that the holidays will be restful and happy. Merry Christmas.

Best regards
Marc Fimeri
Managing Director
