Salamander housings for protection against dust, water, high/low temperatures
and with applications in food/phamaceutical industries

AutoVimation's Salamander is a solution that simplifies the installation and adjustment of image processing components. The product range includes compact, easy-to-intgrate housings providing optimal protection for cameras and lenses in industrial applications while also ensuring good heat dissipation.
Providing IP67 protection for compact cameras 47 x 29 mm to 40 x 40 mm (width x height) cross section, the Salamander series features a broadband, antireflective coated, anodised aluminium enclosure built with a robust extrusion profile.

Flexible camera orientation and positioning inside the housing
The camera is quickly and easily contained within the enclosure via a flexible mount, ensuring the lens always remains close to the front window. Turning the camera inside the housing allows simple correction of the image angle.

Passive cooling system
The enclosure passively cools the camera by working like a large heat sink and dissipating the heat to the outer housing. Whereas standard enclosures without heat dissipation can overheat the camera, AutoVimation's housing effectively lowers the camera temperature by around 12°C.

Enclosure
with camera in- situ
Available in various lengths starting at 130 mm the camera can be easily installed into the enclosure with AutoVimation's patented Quicklock and heat guide mounting system. These mounting elements also dissipate the heat created by the installed camera. Mounting cameras of different heights is easily done by a combination of different Quicklock elements and are available for any camera height from 29 to 38mm. A wide range of mounting brackets allows users to adapt the camera installation to any application.

Conduit tubes and separable cable glands allow for the waterproof insertion of cables with various connectors up to a maximum diameter of 23 mm into the enclosure. Within the enclosure, the camera can be positioned anywhere along its central axis and at any required angle.

Salamander enclosures are based on the standardized “Mechanical Machine Vision Interface” (MMVI) developed by AutoVimation, which allows for all compatible image processing components to be connected directly with the enclosure and so eliminating the time-consuming manufacturing of dedicated light holders.

Feuersalamander for food and pharmaceutical industries

Stainless steel, corrosion-resistant and "corner free"
Electropolished, compact (only 69mm in diameter) IP66/IP67 food-graded V4A stainless steel enclosure for camera up to 38 x 38 mm across section made without edges and corners and especially suited to the food and pharmaceutical industries. Specifically designed for hygienic environments, these enclosures are especially corrosion resistant and feature a smooth surface where dirt and germs normally could accumulate.

Made for small and compact cameras, the Feuersalamander enclosures feature a flush front window and silicon seals and are built with the same, reliable heat-dissipation system, vibration-proof mount and flexible camera positioning as the Salamander enclosures. Additionally, the Feuersalamander can be ordered with a special pharmaceutical cable gland.

Passive cooling
Whereas other camera enclosures might increase the camera temperature, the Feuersalamander camera mounting system reduces the camera temperature by around 9°C due to the good thermal conductivity to the outer enclosure which works well with stainless steel, which is a bad thermal conductor compared with aluminium.

Corner-free mount for Feuersalamander enclosures
The Feuersalamander enclosure offers 150mm length space for camera, lens and connectors. Using the Quick-Lock / Heat- Guide mounting system allows the camera to be positioned in any position while keeping the lens in the correct place behind the front window, and at any rotational angle.

Special features
Camera enclosure
Camera mounting blocks
• Electropolished compact IP66 / IP67 food graded V4A stainless steel enclosure • Few corners and edges for easy cleaning and low chance of accumulating dirt
• Smooth surface without any corners where dirt could accumulate • Covered mounting threads
• Special pharmaceutical cable gland available • Flexible mounting – attaches anywhere along the enclosure
• Especially corrosion resistant using an steel alloy usually used for surgical instruments • Electropolished surface for minimal attachment of bacteria
• Flush front window and silicone seal • Compact – adding only 5 to 10mm to the housing diameter
