Low cost makes multi-camera
deployment accessible for a wide variety of industrial inspection tasks
|
With an eye on saving
costs and compatible with the full range of Teledyne DALSA Genie cameras
as well as wide variety of GigE area and line scan cameras (colour
or mono), the GEVA-300 vision appliance offers an
expandable platform for a multitude of industrial inspection
tasks such as final inspections of large assemblies or any
project where multi-camera vision is necesssary.
Six GigE ports
The GEVA-300 provides a number of external interfaces for system integration
and the six high-bandwidth GigE
ports are compatible with a wide range of GigE cameras which can be
mixed to suit the application need. Camera expansion is
easily accommodated using commercially available network technologies
and thus further reducing costs. |
In addition to the six GigE ports (four of which are typically used for
connecting cameras), the vision system includes a dedicated display and
USB ports for setup and run-time control and a serial port for factory
communication. The vision system can also be expanded with an optional
PL-USB companion module that offers I/O expansion and
easy integration for as many as four more Genie cameras.
With its six dedicated GigE ports and 2GB of high-speed DDR2
memory, the GEVA-300's processing power rivals that of the VA4x series
while still offering savings in both cost and energy consumption.
Design benefits
Incorporating Intel's dual-core ATOM architecture allows GEVA-300 to use
low power consumption while providing solid performance. The fanless design
of the GEVA-300 means a smaller form-factor that delivers space savings.
The appliance also tolerates harsh factory conditions and varying temperatures
making it sufficiently rugged and reliable for harsh factory environments
Software
Vision solutions on the GEVA-300
are set up using Teledyne Dalsa's
iNspect (included in the 03 version) or Sherlock
(included in the -04 version) application software. Both software packages
offer a wide selection of tools and capabilities for applications requiring
positioning, identification, verification, measurement and flaw detection.
The iNspect software is easy to use and requires little or no prior vision
experience, while the Sherlock software offers greater flexibility and
the capacity to tackle more challenging inspection tasks. Included
with iNspect is iLabel, an an application designed specifically for the
packaging industry that is used for verifying the placement and quality
of labels on packaged goods.
