Shift
into SuperSpeed imaging with trend-setting USB3

New standard USB3 interface fulfills
current and future machine vision requirements
Faster and high-resolution sensors, more bit-per-pixel
colour depth plus high frame rates and simultaneous identification
of a variety of features result in an enormous amount of data needing
to be process by both the camera and after that, by the PC.
The advent of the USB3 SuperSpeed interface, providing unproblematic
and fast connectivity, has resulted in a more efficient,
resource-friendly data transmission. By omitting
the polling required by USB2 interfaces and by supporting
the future use of DMA (Direct Memory Access) UBS controllers, it
is possible to retrieve image data from USB cameras
virtually without requiring any CPU load.
By eliminating the interface bottleneck, USB3 cameras offers
a data transfer rate of up to 400 MByte-per-second which
is 10 times that of USB2, 5 times
Firewire 800 and still 3.5 times GigE speed.

iDS USB3 cameras: Fast, compact
and powerful |
|
Built
with a range of innovative features, the 29 x 29 x 29 mm iDS USB3
series camera housing is not only compact, but due to its magnesium
casing also very lightweight and robust. The camera
offers trigger, flash and pulse width modulation as well as two
GPIOs
(General Purpose I/O). The GPIOs can also be converted into a serial
port (RS232), e.g. to trigger peripheral devices and thanks to the
lockable micro USB 3.0 and Hirose connectors the camera is also
perfect for rough environments. With a low power consumption the
camera is specifically suited for mobile and embedded applications.
Boasting three different monochrome and colour sensors
from Aptina and e2v, the camera series offers resolutions
from Wide VGA to 5 Megapixel. The 5 Megapixel Aptina sensor (MT9P006)
incorporating the new A-Pix pixel technology with a deeper photo
diode and light guide and an increased sensivity of up to 30 %.

Typical applications
Due to having an integrated power supply and compact size, the cameras
are well-suited for embedded systems and in particular for 3D imaging
within process automation, bodywork inspection, medical engineering,
robotics or logistics. |
