New camera electronics enhance image capture and efficiency for 5MP iDS cameras

iDS offers new electronics for 5-Megapixel USB and GigE CCD cameras

To meet the increasing demands of higher resolution and greater detail, IDS now offer their 5 Megapixel USB and GigE cameras with Sony ICX-655 CCD sensor with a set of newly-developed camera electronics.

Benefits of the new electronics
In combination with driver version 3.90, the new electronics enables the cameras to capture with a bit depth of 12 bits per pixel In addition, the sensor delivers the same frame rate in triggered as in free-run mode: up to 7 frames per second for cameras with USB and up to 10 for cameras with GigE interface.

The camera models are particularly suited for applications in microscopy, traffic monitoring, print inspection and quality control, eg. in automated quality inspection in manufacturing.

IDS will gradually enhance all current CCD models with this newly developed camera electronics where the enhanced models will offer up to 100% higher frame rates compared to standard CCD models.
