Helping
prevent the spread of AN1H1 with IR camera technology
THERMOGRAPHY CAMERAS HELP PREVENT
THE SPREAD OF INFECTIOUS DISEASES
Infectious diseases causing fever can easily spread due to international
travelling. Early detection of elevated body temperature (fever) is crucial
to avoiding this spreading. An effective disease-prevention strategy with
infrared thermography needs to be in place.
How do IR cameras work in detecting disease?
In a solution that is simple, reliable
and stable, the Xenics Raven-384 Infra red camera can detect the
heat transmitted from the skin and then produce a temperature map of a
person in real time. Xenics recommends the body temperature to be checked
at the corner of an individual's eye where the temperature approaches
the core body temperature. A coloured image is produced where the colours
represent temperature. Temperatures higher than a certain threshold can
be highlighted.
How intrusive to
people and processes is this method?
Totally
harmless and non-intrusive, the camera is deployed at places of incoming
travel such as airports, bus and railway stations. Pedestrian flow will
not be influenced thanks to the high frame rate of the Xenics Raven-384
camera. Temperature differences as small as 0.050 degrees centigrade can
be distinguished. The high-definition image quality permits accurate fever
detection of both individuals and crowds. The examination takes no longer
than a fraction of a second.
Easily
set up on a tripod and using a standard Ethernet interface, the infrared
camera can be controlled from a PC for temporary screening. At places
with long queues such as passport or customs control points, where people
can be screened on an individual basis, a fixed installation can also
be maintained. Setup and operation is so simple that it requires minimum
training of less than one hour before being fully deployable.
What are the benefits of using
the Raven-384 for measuring body temperature? |
1 |
Easy installation: The Raven-384 can be
connected directly to a laptop with a standard Ethernet cable |
2 |
Minimum operator training: Learn how to
operate in less than an hour |
3 |
Crowd screening: Infected individuals
in crowds can be detected from a distance with high-definition images |
4 |
Automatic alerts: Adjustable threshold
set at 1 degree C above average temperature, with visual and audio
alarms |
5 |
Fast and discrete: No influence on pedestrian
flow with 50 Hz framerate |
6 |
Accurate and stable temperature measurement:
Precisely controlled black body reference for improved accuracy and
stability. |
