Machine Vision Workshops - Technical TrainingTo register your interest in attending please visit: www.adept.net.au/training/ Adept Electronics Solutions is very proud to announce the first of their Machine Vision Training Workshop days to be held in Sydney and Melbourne in July. They consist of an intense two-day technical training course offering hands-on, in-depth technical sessions covering the latest machine vision techniques and vision products. The workshop will use products from Dalsa iPD Vision, a world leader in the design and manufacture of adaptable vision systems offering ease-of-use, compact size and reliability. Who Should ComeIt doesn't matter if you are a new user to machine vision, if you use of a different vision system to Dalsa iPD or if you already use Dalsa iPD vision products, this workshop will have plenty for you. Systems integrators, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Engineers, Process Operators, Production Managers, Consultants; all are welcome to discover new techniques, reinforce existing know-how and to discover the power and ease of Dalsa iPD Vision Solutions. Marc Fimeri the Managing Director of Adept Electronic Solutions said "Adept is trying to offer something of value back to our exisiting customers and something new to our prospective customers. We believe that by empowering them with the knowledge of how best to use vision for automated inspection we will strengthen the market, strengthen our customer's position in their market and strengthen Adept." Why You Should ComeMr Chris Chalifoux the senior application engineer at Dalsa iPD in Boston has been invited by AES to present many of the topics during the two day course and to take us through both the basic and advanced tools and techniques required for automated inspection. Chris will also teach and discuss the use of Dalsa iPD's INSPECT software designed for ease-of-use and fast integration. Dalsa iPD's flagship machine vision software SHERLOCK, will be dealt with in detail while demonstrating and teaching the use of their world-class inspection tools for many different applications. You will bring a laptop or be provided with a PC for hands-on exercises under the supervision of 3 expert vision engineers from Adept. You will learn about compact, ruggedised Dalsa iPD VISION APPLIANCES and what they offer above and beyond other vision systems and smart cameras. You will see and be able to study live demonstrations of real applications. There will also be other topics addressed by Adept engineers - optics : how to choose them and design them into your system; lighting : what type to choose and when to choose them. DetailsThe technical training will be a full two day course. Two workshops will be held - one in Melbourne and one in Sydney on the following dates: Melbourne: July 14 and 15, 2008 Sydney: July 17 and 18, 2008
International Guest Lecturer: Chris Chalifoux: Chris is the senior applications and training engineer for Dalsa iPD. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from New York and has been working in the field of image processing and machine vision for the past 20 years. Chris was part of the very successful ITI group before it amalgamated with Coreco and was more recently incorporated into Dalsa's iPD group. Chris has a very long, rich and diverse history with the design of vision systems and with application development and is an expert with the Dalsa iPD software and hardware products. Registration:There is no cost to attendees. Available seats are limited so please register early. Preference will be given to those companies and systems integrators that intend to use vision in the short to medium term and who are interested in using Dalsa iPD products. As part of the registration you will be required to fill-in a short questionnaire. To register your interest, please visit: www.adept.net.au/training/ or call an Adept Representative in our Perth (08) 9242-5411, Melbourne (03) 9555-5621 or Sydney (02) 9979-2599 offices. Ruggedized Industrial cameras - iDS uEye RE seriesGerman based iDS imaging offers a comprehensive range of USB 2.0 industrial cameras, accessories and software tools. The iDS uEye camera family is industrially-proven, compact, robust and innovative. All uEye cameras have an extremely compact design and are available in high-quality CCD or CMOS sensors, monochrome or color, with rolling or global shutters and, optionally with an internal memory for on-board sequence capture and buffering. The series of cameras offers resolutions ranging from VGA up to five Megapixel. The RE series of uEue cameras is offered with a specially designed housing and connectors for use in harsh environmental conditions. It is no secret that adverse environmental conditions such as dust or moisture affect the proper functioning of sensitive high-precision electronic components. This applies all the more to modern cameras, in which the connectors and the fine mechanics of the lenses also react to dirt or water. The uEye RE series solves these problems without the need for extra protection or customised enclosures. iDS developed the uEye RE camera family to accommodate these special requirements. Like the traditional uEye family, the uEye RE family is also affordable and extremely compact with a USB2 interface for professional use. The carefully sealed housing and the screw-mounted lens tube make the cameras dust and water proof so conforming to protection classes IP65 and IP67. The USB connection and the I/O signal connections are made through two plugs that meet the same protection classes. The uEye RE range is therefore particularly well suited to rough environments and are extraordinarily robust. The uEye RE accessories, such as cable and USB hubs, are also consistently designed for the extended application possibilities of this series. The uEye RE 4-port hub meets the protection classes IP65 and IP67 and uses the same connectors as the uEye RE cameras that feature screw locking for added reliability. To complete the range of accessories the hub is optionally equipped with a DIN rail mount to facilitate the assembly in a control cabinet, for example. The connecting cables between hub and camera are available in a standard or dragline-compatible version. The dragline-compatible special cables offer cable lengths outside the USB 2.0 specification. Adept Electronic Solutions (AES) are the machine vision and imaging specialists in Australia and New Zealand and exclusive distributor for the iDS' uEye RE series camera range. With a broad selection of world class machine hardware and software products AES provides a one-stop shop for machine vision and imaging components. Direct to Display Camera from AES - AESXGA-080VThe AESXGA-080V is a new release state-of-the-art camera product. It is unique in the market in that it plugs directly into a standard PC display unit and displays a high resolution digital flicker-free image. There is no requirement for a PC, grabbers, adapters or any other intermediate hardware. The AESXGA-080V is an XGA 1/2.5" progressive scan CCD camera suitable for a very wide range of image display applications. With 1024 x 767 pixel resolution it outputs images at 60 frames per second. The 5.2 x 5.2µm pixel size ensures high sensitivity. It outputs 24 bit true color images which are clear, sensitive and sharp. The unique feature of the AESXGA-080V is that its images are output via a D-sub 15 pin connector with the standard PC display interface (computer graphics interface). By simply powering the camera and plugging it into your standard low cost computer monitor you can view images live in high quality format. The AESXGA-080V is fully compatible for direct connection to CRT monitors, LCD displays and projectors. In the past for direct display applications typically a composite analog camera was plugged into a video monitor. These cameras produce relatively low quality PAL interlaced images that suffer flicker and the analog monitors required prove to be expensive. The AESXGA-080V high resolution sensor on the other hand provides stable colour images that far surpass standard analog PAL cameras. The AESXGA-080V has a small form factor of 70mm×52mm×51mm, and so can be used in confined spaces. It can be used with C- mount lenses which are readily available in all focal lengths and are inexpensive. The camera operates on a 5V DC, 350mA power supply. The controls on the back of the camera make it flexible for use in different conditions. Three potentiometers allow the colour balance to be adjusted and fixed. Gain can also be controlled via a potentiometer. Four DIP switches allow for the enabling of a black or white crosshair overlay, high sensitivity mode for applications where low light levels prevail and image quality cannot be compromised and to fix the RGB settings.
The AESXGA-080V camera can be used in a very wide range of applications. Some of these include:
