New Genie Cameras from DALSA

Dalsa has released two new models of its Genie™ GigE Vision-compliant camera family. The Genie C1410 and Genie M1410 cameras feature a high quality, high sensitivity 2/3" sensor and are specifically designed for industrial imaging applications in a wide range of applications.

The Genie 1410 features a 2/3" CCD sensor from SONY (ICX285) and is available in colour (C1410) and monochrome (M1410) versions running at 22 frames per second (FPS). Additional features include: global electronic shutter with exposure control, on-board flat-field correction, and on-board color conversion (used by the colour model) to produce crisp and clear images. The GigE Vision camera acts as a single machine vision component – integrating both advanced camera and board image acquisition technologies in one small package. The camera features an RJ45 ruggedized screw mount cable connector ideal for robotics applications.

High Quality Image Capture for ITS
One of the primary application areas for these small, high sensitivity cameras is within Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), to automate traffic management, traffic enforcement and tolling. Machine vision systems support ITS by automating the monitoring and enforcement of traffic laws at red lights, toll booths and for speeding. ITS systems can also be used to automatically locate, identify, and physically measure a vehicle, and can use optical character recognition (OCR) to read its license plate. This can aid in finding stolen cars, and assist in finding other criminal suspects.

GigE Vision™
Like all Genie cameras, the C1410 and M1410 are certified GigE Vision compliant, and are based on the AIA (Automated Imaging Association) GigE Vision Standard to directly link the camera to a PC. These new Genie cameras take full advantage of Gigabit Ethernet technology, transmitting data over standard CAT-5e and CAT-6 cables to distances of up to 100m allowing for a greater distance between the camera and inspection system. DALSA continues to lead the deployment of the GigE Vision standard in terms of adopting the technology into their product development efforts.

Software Advantage
The Genie C1410 and M1410 cameras are supported by DALSA’s Sapera™ Essential software and its Genie Framework package for fast and simple camera set-up – from initial set-up to grabbing images in minutes. Moreover, the Genie Framework employs DALSA’s advanced Trigger-to-Image Reliability engineering, significantly accelerating application development and deployment time by providing developers with a 360º view of the entire acquisition process.

Ruggedized Industrial cameras - iDS uEye RE series

German based iDS imaging offers a comprehensive range of USB 2.0 industrial cameras, accessories and software tools. The iDS uEye camera family is industrially-proven, compact, robust and innovative.

All uEye cameras have an extremely compact design and are available in high-quality CCD or CMOS sensors, monochrome or color, with rolling or global shutters and, optionally with an internal memory for on-board sequence capture and buffering. The series of cameras offers resolutions ranging from VGA up to five Megapixel.

iDS RE cameras The RE series of uEue cameras is offered with a specially designed housing and connectors for use in harsh environmental conditions. It is no secret that adverse environmental conditions such as dust or moisture affect the proper functioning of sensitive high-precision electronic components. This applies all the more to modern cameras, in which the connectors and the fine mechanics of the lenses also react to dirt or water. The uEye RE series solves these problems without the need for extra protection or customised enclosures.

iDS uEye RE camerasiDS developed the uEye RE camera family to accommodate these special requirements. Like the traditional uEye family, the uEye RE family is also affordable and extremely compact with a USB2 interface for professional use.

The carefully sealed housing and the screw-mounted lens tube make the cameras dust and water proof so conforming to protection classes IP65 and IP67. The USB connection and the I/O signal connections are made through two plugs that meet the same protection classes. The uEye RE range is therefore particularly well suited to rough environments and are extraordinarily robust.

The uEye RE accessories, such as cable and USB hubs, are also consistently designed for the extended application possibilities of this series.

iDS RE HUB cameras The uEye RE 4-port hub meets the protection classes IP65 and IP67 and uses the same connectors as the uEye RE cameras that feature screw locking for added reliability. To complete the range of accessories the hub is optionally equipped with a DIN rail mount to facilitate the assembly in a control cabinet, for example. The connecting cables between hub and camera are available in a standard or dragline-compatible version. The dragline-compatible special cables offer cable lengths outside the USB 2.0 specification.

Direct to Display Camera from AES - AESXGA-080V

The AESXGA-080V is a new release state-of-the-art camera product. It is unique in the market in that it plugs directly into a standard PC display unit and displays a high resolution digital flicker-free image. There is no requirement for a PC, grabbers, adapters or any other intermediate hardware.

The AESXGA-080V is an XGA 1/2.5" progressive scan CCD camera suitable for a very wide range of image display applications. With 1024 x 767 pixel resolution it outputs images at 60 frames per second. The 5.2 x 5.2µm pixel size ensures high sensitivity. It outputs 24 bit true color images which are clear, sensitive and sharp.

The unique feature of the AESXGA-080V is that its images are output via a D-sub 15 pin connector with the standard PC display interface (computer graphics interface). By simply powering the camera and plugging it into your standard low cost computer monitor you can view images live in high quality format. The AESXGA-080V is fully compatible for direct connection to CRT monitors, LCD displays and projectors.

In the past for direct display applications typically a composite analog camera was plugged into a video monitor. These cameras produce relatively low quality PAL interlaced images that suffer flicker and the analog monitors required prove to be expensive. The AESXGA-080V high resolution sensor on the other hand provides stable colour images that far surpass standard analog PAL cameras.

The AESXGA-080V has a small form factor of 70mm×52mm×51mm, and so can be used in confined spaces. It can be used with C- mount lenses which are readily available in all focal lengths and are inexpensive. The camera operates on a 5V DC, 350mA power supply.

The controls on the back of the camera make it flexible for use in different conditions. Three potentiometers allow the colour balance to be adjusted and fixed. Gain can also be controlled via a potentiometer. Four DIP switches allow for the enabling of a black or white crosshair overlay, high sensitivity mode for applications where low light levels prevail and image quality cannot be compromised and to fix the RGB settings.

The AESXGA-080V camera can be used in a very wide range of applications. Some of these include:

  • Parts visual inspection
  • Packaging visual inspection
  • Registration alignment in Printing
  • Microscope display
  • Teaching Aid
  • Replacement for data projector
  • Airport Baggage conveyor display
  • Lecture Theatre displays
