The CR5000x2 is a high speed camera for capturing images of high-speed events in order to slow down playback and for image and motion analysis. It is a standalone compact camera with internal memory used to store high speed image sequences at very high frame rates. It features a fast Gigabit ethernet connection to transfer the already captured high-speed image sequence to computer. The gigabit ethernet connection also provides the means to control the camera when setting up and to view a live image on a laptop or computer screen for image composition prior to recording.

Operating with a framerate of 5000 fps at full resolution (or 9000 fps using the UltraSpeed functionality) enables Optronis CR5000x2 high-speed camera to capture very fast events such as combustion and explosions. In area of interest mode the camera can capture at up to 40,000 fps. This feature coupled with the camera's ability to operate in very low light conditions increases its flexibility and suitability to a wide range of implementations that involve the capturing of any events that are too fast to see with the human eye.

Camera management is by way of the packaged, free CamControl software, running on Windows. Optronis also provide a driver for Labview. Typical diagnostic and analysis applications for the CR5000x2 high-speed camera include ballistics and wavefront analysis; fast-process analysis in a factory environment; biomechanical and sports analysis and defence testing. Its robust housing and quality manufacture make it ideally suited to harsh environments.

As with all Optronis cameras, the human element has been considered. This unit is light-weight and portable and can be used with minimal operator training.

A more comprehensive summary of features and details of optional accessories are listed on the downloadable product datasheet.
